An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Newport area for a Finance Assistant to work for a high-profile organisation. Working as part of a friendly accounts team, the successful candidate will be required to assist with the purchase/sales ledger processing.In this role you will be responsible for dealing with all aspects of the transactional functions, with a strong emphasis on the purchase/sales ledger processing side. They are looking to recruit an individual that has worked within a similar role previously,with some exposure to either the purchase/sales ledger. My client would love a candidate that is studying towards the early stages of their AAT professional qualification and in return, they will support your studies. The successful candidate will possessa positive attitude and willingness to learn and over time, take on additional responsibilities within the accounts department.Key responsibilities will include: 1) Processing purchase ledger invoices2) Ensuring all purchase orders are matched accordingly3) Ensure invoices are sent to the relevant department managers for authorisation4) Posting invoices to the correct ledger code5) Dealing with supplier queries6) Making sure invoices are posted correctly, within the set timescales in order for the monthly management accounts to be processed7) Issuing invoices for events8) Chase payments to ensure invoices are paid promptly and within set timescales9) Post any payments to the general ledger10) Filing invoices, archiving and photo-copying11) Assisting the finance manager with their day to day tasks12) General administrative support to the finance team13) Strong IT skills especially with Microsoft ExcelOur client offers excellent working conditions and the opportunity to learn and progress within the organisation over-time. The role will be based onsite initially whilst training, but when up and running you can work from home 1 day a week. Hours are Monday - Friday: 8.30am - 5.30pm and/or 9.00am - 5.00pm.
