Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

Electrical maintenance engineer required to join a large global company who have been established for 100+ years, employee 10,000+ staff globally with close to 500 of those staff being employed at their South Wales facility.Working closely with the engineering manager the maintenance engineer will play a lead role in site automation, control and electrical projects identifying and implementing process improvements. You will also manage projects through the use of both internaland external resources and support the production areas with any issues.Hours of work are 7:30am-4pm Monday to Thursday and 7:30am-2pm on Fridays.Electrical maintenance engineer duties will include:

  • Leading all site automation and control projects
  • Responsibility for site PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, Servo Drives, vision systems, robotics and process control issues and leading on solutions
  • Standardisation of control systems, control logic, etc. and documentation of operation procedures and as-built drawings
  • Plant liaison for new system start-up and commissioning of all controls and automation systems by OEMs and system integrators
  • Leading in the development of new PLC programmes for process and safety improvements
  • Problem-solving PLC code and complex Fieldbus IO and SCADA systems
  • Interrogating complex control systems to identify failures and resolve
  • Training and mentoring of electrical and control technicians
To apply for the electrical maintenance engineer position, you will need:
  • Previous experience in a technical or manufacturing environment
  • A degree level qualification in a relevant subject (Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, etc.)
  • PLC programming ability
  • Experience with equipment such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, Servo Drives, vision systems, robotics, etc.
  • Knowledge of high voltage switching, preferably an authorised person.
