Job Description

Senior Clinical Coder (ACC) or Trainee Senior Clinical Coder.South WalesACC - Band 5 or Trainee Senior Clinical Coder - Band 4Our client is looking for either an Accredited Clinical Coder or a Trainee Senior Clinical Coder to work with them in a hybrid capacity. Choosing a 50/50 working pattern with a flexible approach, you can choose if you work 1 week onsite and then 1 week fromhome or 2 days onsite and 3 days from home, reversing this the following week.You will be coding all specialities that an acute hospital has but not plastics or neuro surgery.If you are working towards your NCCQ exam you will be employed as a Band 4 ClinicalCoder, if you have gained your accreditation and hold the NCCQ then you will be employed as a Band 5 Clinical Coder. Person SpecificationQualifications and KnowledgeEssential

  • Accredited Clinical Coder status (National Clinical Coding Qualification)
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical/medical terminology and ability to work autonomously across a full range of specialities.
  • Advanced ongoing in-depth knowledge and understanding of diseases and related health problems
  • Advanced ongoing in-depth knowledge and understanding of medical and surgical interventions and procedural terms
  • Knowledge of all microsoft office applications and other relevant IT software packages required
ExperienceEssential
  • Analyse and apply National Clinical Coding Standards and to a broad range of healthcare specialties and scenarios which can often be highly complex and conflicting
  • Extensive experience coding across a wide range of specialties of all complexities
  • Experience of working under pressure to deliver set Welsh Government in month and year- end targets, whilst also ensuring quality of data is of a high standard
  • Experience of interogating both paper records and electonic systems / applications to extract clinical information for the purpose of clinical coding some of which can be conflicting
  • Previous Management, Supervisory or mentoring experience
