Job Description

This role provides an excellent opportunity to work very closely with key stakeholders in the practice, Law School provider and Learning and Development and Talent colleagues to develop thequality of the firms trainees.The RoleThis position requires significant understanding of the trainee development process at all levels and a good understanding of employment and immigration law. This role will work closely with the Trainee Development Manager on the following projects:

  • Act as main point of contact for all future trainees and apprentices, supporting with all pastoral and wellbeing needs as well as enrolment logistics
  • Liaise with Law School provider, BPP, and actively monitor and implement necessary regulatory developments and changes of the SQE
  • Work with the Learning & Development team to organise SQE training and keeping in touch days and events for future trainees and apprentices
  • Manage future trainee and apprentice on-boarding with our HR Service Delivery (HRSD) team and our academic provider, from point of offer
  • Arrange all SQE and PGDL enrolment, grant funding and exam fees
  • Handle future trainee inbox and all queries
  • Organise the trainee induction programme (twice a year)
  • Participate in regular review meetings with trainees to discuss their performance and provide guidance
  • Assist with the qualification process for trainees (twice a year)
  • Liaise with immigration lawyers to obtain work permits for trainee solicitors
  • Liaise with international offices to discuss secondments (incoming and outgoing)
  • Support with bi-annual seat rotation and NQ process, managing the rotations of 85+ trainees
  • Attend Trainee Forum meetings
  • Oversee the trainee appraisal process - includes training for supervisors and trainees
  • Liaise with the Solicitors Regulation Authority as required
  • Attending social events for future and current trainees (includes evening work)
  • Create and maintain engaging content for early careers social media channels
  • Support Early Careers Recruitment team with events, screening, telephone interviews and training contract interviews
Skills and Experience RequiredThe Trainee Development team environment is busy, friendly and supportive, and we are looking for someone who wants to build on their previous experience.
  • Previous experience of trainee development and HR
  • Ideally previous legal partnership experience
  • Ability to engage and gain credibility with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise work load effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A positive and proactive attitude
  • Resilience with the confidence to deliver presentations and difficult messages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
