My client at Marine Management Organisation, is looking for an Executive Officer / Support and Engagement Officer to join their amazing team as soon as possible. If you feel you have the right experience and skills to join the team then look no further!Location: Newcastle (Lancaster House - NE3) - Hybrid / Home Working Options AvailableRate of Pay: £13.37ph - (Weekly Pay)Hours: Full time - 9am to 5pm (Some Flexibility Available)Start Date: ASAPContract: Until End of May 2023 initially with the high possibility of extension.Main Duties and Accountabilitys:

• This role will be based in the I-VMS Support & Engagement Team.
• The role requires excellent customer service skills as the post-holder will be required to respond to queries via telephone both inbound/outbound and email.
• There will also be a requirement to attend meetings within the Support & Engagement Team and wider teams such as the Project Team.
• The post-holder will require a positive attitude to encourage the fishing industry to purchase and install devices in line with the upcoming Statutory Instrument which will make compliance compulsory.
• The post-holder will be expected to travel extensively across England to visit fish quays and marinas in collaboration with local Marine Offices that may involve some overnight stay(s).

More About The Team - What is I-VMS

• Inshore Vessel Monitoring System (I-VMS) devices are similar to the VMS tracking devices used by fishing vessels of 12 metres and greater length. I-VMS devices monitor the inshore fishing activity of under 12 metre vessels to help improve the managementand sustainability of our marine environment, ensure proper fishing practices and prevent illegal fishingto help protect and enhance the livelihoods of fishers.
• Using GPRS mobile phone signals, I-VMS devices provide positional information, latitude and longitude, course, speed, date, and time of each positional report which gets transmitted by the device suppliers to the MMOs UK VMS Hub. When a device is locatedoutside GPRS range, the device will continue to store the positional information and submit the data once GPRS coverage is re-established. This is different to the VMS devices used by larger vessels, which transmit data via satellite which can be expensive.
• Combined with data on catch volumes, scientific evidence of stock levels and a range of other significant data, I-VMS will enable more efficient decisions on local and national management measures and policies. It will also enable the MMO to continuallyimprove its targeted assurance activities as a clearer picture of fishing activity will help highlight which vessels are consistently complying with regulations on where and what they can fish, and those vessels that may introduce risk to sustainable sea fisheries.
