Job Description

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working with a leading Planning & Design Consultancy in Newcastle on the hire of a Senior Planner or Associate Planner. This role is available on a permanent, full-time basis however flexibility is offered.Our clients busy and successful North East office is made up of a small, friendly and sociable team who work closely with the Leeds team also. The successful candidates will work on a broad range of planning projects, using their local knowledge and nationalinfluence to plan and deliver projects of all types and scales, including in the residential, commercial and employment sectors.Roles/Responsibilities;

  • Promote large to medium scale residential, mixed-use, employment and other infrastructure/Energy developments (both brownfield and greenfield) through the Local Development Framework and then by coordinating subsequent applications
  • Conduct research and site appraisals on projects for our client base
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate planning applications of all sizes/types
  • Prepare planning and occasionally socio-economic statements
  • Lodge appeals and potentially appear at Informal Hearings
  • Develop client relationships, network, raise the office profile through networking/business development and generate work
  • Co-ordinate internal and external project teams and project management/QA
  • Prepare Local Plan and Neighbourhood Plan representations
  • Act as a mentor to junior colleagues
Requirements to apply;
  • Have strong planning experience working on similar developments, ideally within Yorkshire or the North East region
  • At Associate level, have a passion and track record for growing business, including managing client relationships and building a professional contacts networks, ideally with existing client contacts
  • Be MRTPI qualified or working towards it
  • Be committed to continuing your professional development with a willingness to learn and progress
  • Be collaborative by nature
  • Be commercially minded and able to take on personal responsibility
  • Have an ability to undertake quantitative and sequential assessments
  • Be committed and have an eye for detail
  • Be used to working with minimal supervision and have a strong ability to use your own initiative
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be personable and professional with high levels of motivation, ambition and drive
  • Have an ability to manage your own time and a wide and complex workload
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and are willing to travel nationally when required
