Senior Ecologist - Newcastle Ref BR00040Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 + benefitsAn exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and experienced Ecologist to adopt a Senior role in the thriving Biodiversity team of a world-leading, multidisciplinary consultancy. Our client has an enviable track record of delivering awide-range of cutting-edge energy transition projects, as well as an impressive, more traditional infrastructure schemes. The team can proudly say that their work makes a real-world difference, delivering innovative sustainable solutions across renewables,recycling, education, defence and commercial. Working as part of the companys dynamic and supportive Newcastle office, you will deliver biodiversity inputs into an expansive range of projects across the UK, and potentially abroad, with opportunities to managea variety of projects, act as lead surveyor, be involved in technical reporting and contribute to business development, and mentoring more junior members of staff.In order to be considered for this Senior Ecology position, you will:

  • Have a degree in Ecology or another related field.
  • Have experience of working in an Ecology-related role, with experience of task management (including financial management).
  • Have experience in conducting extended Phase 1 and UK Habs surveys.
  • Have experience in designing, undertaking, and leading ecological surveys for protected species.
  • Have experience in writing and reviewing high quality technical reports.
  • Have experience in EclA and in designing and delivering ecological mitigation.
  • Have experience in stakeholder engagement and client/contractor liaison.
  • Have one or more protected species licences.
  • Have experience of botanical identification.
  • Have Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Have a full, clean UK drivers licence.
  • Be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of environmental legislation and planning policy.
Working as a Senior Ecologist your duties will include:
  • Designing and conduct ecological surveys, including protected species surveys (including bats, reptiles, great crested newts, otters and water voles).
  • Taking a leading role in the delivery of ecology survey requirements.
  • Managing extended phase Phase 1 and UK Habs surveys.
  • Producing reports and mapping, including desk studies, baseline reports, mitigation strategies and supporting in EcIA delivery.
