SUMMARY Our client, a private and social housing developer based in Newcastle, are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their existing team. Based in a picturesque, open-plan office you will be working alongside a Commercial team of 9 from a Commercial Administrator to the Commercial Manager. Hours of work will be Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-5pm with a 1 hour lunch and Friday 8am-4pm with a 30 minute lunch. THE ROLE Quantity Surveyors look after 3 sites with, on average, 50 units per site. This client is at the forefront of Quantity Surveying technology which allows for Quantity Surveyors to be out on site for 2 days a week. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Increase Trade Contractor Base Identify new Trade Contractor Partners: · Meet and explain the Homes culture and all-risk packaging · Obtain prices on standard house types on partnering agreement · Improve relationships with existing Trade Contractors, resolve issues that may arise and communicate requirements All-risk Civil Engineering Procurement Tender for all risk Road, Sewers and Plot works: · Negotiate best value packages · Present for approval New Site Starts · Upon provision of technical information procure work packages and pass information to buying department for scheduling and order placement · Compile and present SSB to Commercial Manager, Central Commercial Management for approval · Create subcontract comparisons for sign off · Hold and lead prestart meetings with sub-contractors and issue arising minutes · Upload budget to COINS systems · Issue subcontract orders with associated PAVs and schedules · Placement of plant orders upon receipt of requisitions Cost Management · Upon provision of sufficient technical information procure packages and produce robust SSB · Provide information to buying department for scheduling and placement of material orders · Obtain plant requisitions and place subsequent orders · Produce detailed cost plan for inclusion with Cap Ex 2 · Produce pre-start budget Monitor & Control Build Costs · Cost-to-complete reporting · Support and assist as necessary with the group drive for efficiency savings · Provide commercial input to innovations · Ensure trade specifications are current and comply with building regulations KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE · Excellent organizational skills · Ability to fully operate Microsoft Word/ Excel and PowerPoint/ COINS and Evision · Highly organized and able to work under pressure · Professional attitude and approach to work THE PACKAGE Salary >£55k + >£5k car allowance + discretionary bonus 5% matched pension contributions
