Job Description

Procurement Team Lead£45-50k DOENewcastleJackson Hogg Procurement & Supply Chain division are working closely with a leading design and manufacturing organisation in Newcastle on the appointment of a Procurement Team Lead to join their procurement function.This is a people management role requiring skills in this area and would suit someone who is eager to be responsible for the day-to-day management of a transactional procurement function and to deliver an efficient procurement service.Working hours can be flexible Monday to Friday with an early Friday finish on offer, 2 days per week home working and with benefits including: 25 days holiday plus BH, free restaurant facilities, health insurance (BUPA), pension contribution of 6% ER anddiscretionary bonus scheme.The Role:

  • The person will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the procurement team of 7 staff, covering all commodities
  • Communicate regularly with the Buyers to understand issues and to be a point of escalation feeding relevant information into the Head of Supply Chain
  • Occasional global travel will be required for this position
  • Fully embedding strategic procurement within the organisation, including developing the Supply Chain in China and leveraging cost savings across the business
  • Provide departmental KPI’s and analysis of data with demonstrable improvements
  • Manage supplier price lists, MOQ’s, long lead times, efficient batch sizes
  • Helping to create fully efficient cross-functional teams for current and future projects
  • Providing procurement input and information into organisation projects and product and component redesign work
  • Providing a point of escalation into the Head of Supply Chain for the Buyers and other key Stakeholders
  • Oversight of Project procurement requirements from including planned schedules, planned deliveries and expediting of orders
  • Help to drive Product Standardisation
  • Manage the budgeting, planning and implementation of indirect and facilities procurement
  • Manage the Buyers including carrying out PDRs, flowing down OKR’s and supporting performance and development on a personal and professional basis
  • Work closely with the Spares manager to ensure strategic objectives are met and on time delivery is achieved.
  • Support the Sales team and Customer Spares Team to ensure efficient pricing enquiries and sourcing strategies are in place.
  • Identify and mitigate appropriate risks related with the procurement activities and supply chain
The Person/Specification:
  • Experience in managing a team is essential
  • Several years experience in a procurement/supply chain role
  • Supplier Relationship Management: demonstrable experience of leading and managing supplier relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
  • Autonomous and proactive
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Excellent negotiation skills and assertiveness
