Job Description

In response to a rise in complaints about pensions advice and products, the Financial Ombudsman Service is currently recruiting for investigators who have experience of the pensions sector, to join on a 12-month contract exclusively working form home.The Financial Ombudsman Service is the independent statutory organisation that settles individual disputes between financial businesses and their customers. If a business and a customer cant resolve and complaint themselves, the Financial Ombudsman Servicecan give an unbiased answer about whats happened. If they decide someones been treated unfairly, they have legal powers to put things right.The Pensions Investigator role will require you to get to the bottom of customers complaints and investigate things thoroughly. These cases will involve issues about pensions and investments. You will review the case in detail, providing answers that arefair andfeelfair. As part of that review you will need to consider the relevant law, regulation and good industry practice to reach a fair and reasonable outcome on the case.You will need to work at pace, applying your extensive pensions experience and understanding to gain a clear understanding of the facts of the case.The ideal candidate for this role will have previous complaint or dispute handling and investigation experience within a regulated, financial services environment.Essential

  • Previous experience of working in a financial services environment
  • Previous experience of pensions advice and private pensions complaints management
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills to provide a balances presentation of the pertinent facts of a case
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of pension schemes
Desirable
  • Understanding of pension redress methodology
  • Previous experience working in dispute resolution
  • Pensions qualifications
