Job Description

Position Overview The Mobile AC Engineer will be employed on work plant that is appropriate to their core and specialist skills. They will be required to complete day to day effective maintenance of the clients’ estates and to complete re-active, planned and remedial works to plant and equipment. They will be expected to have and acquire elements of other skills which will enable them to work flexibly across trades.Suitable training may be given when required to ensure that they will be competent to achieve the skills and ability where required to perform the following (as detailed in responsibilities).The role is mobile and the successful candidate will live within the Contract Region.ResponsibilitiesKey duties, though not exhaustive, are listed below;

  • Provide a reactive, pro-active, planned, corrective maintenance service to all operational equipment.
  • Ensure that all site FGAS and Equipment logs and kept up to date.
  • Experience working on; air handling systems, motors, pumps, chillers, air-cooled condensers, CRAC Units (DX & CHW), Split Units and VRV/VRF units.
  • Ensure Asset Registers and PPM Planners are accurate and reflect the actual equipment on site including; condition grading and lifecycle assessment.
  • Carry out modifications and installations when required
  • Liaise with contractors or external suppliers where required and clearly communicate technical issues
  • Provide a service that ensures all AC equipment is running to optimum performance and highlight improvements.
  • Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators are met
  • Ensure that work is carried out to a high standard and in line with current company (and Contract) policies and procedures
  • Provide technical support/input to projects and initiatives
  • Continuously look to improve equipment efficiencies and cost reductions
  • Take ownership of tools and equipment provided and ensure maintained to an appropriate standard, reporting any defects immediately
  • Complete any required paperwork, produce reports accurately and on a timely basis
  • Complete training and development activities as required in order to remain competent in role
  • Flexibility in work hours to provide cover if required for holidays and sickness absence
  • Be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in
  • Participation in standby rota for emergency calls outside normal working hours.
  • Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures, at all times
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.
  • What we are looking for
  • Appropriate up to date training to make use of relevant equipment/tools
  • Up to date knowledge of technical regulations applicable to core craft and how this applies to role
  • Fault diagnosis and resolution
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions (where able to do so)
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to use effectively any ICT equipment provided
  • Ability to effectively prioritise own workload and complete work as instructed

  • Self-motivated, pro-active and have a positive approach to work
  • Experience and capability to provide maintenance service in both mechanical and electrical disciplines
  • Ability to provide a schedule of works for identified additional/remedial works
  • Writing and following risk and method statements as required on a daily basis
  • Good knowledge of building Statutory Compliance.
  • Presented in a clean and tidy manner to represent the company, in the most professional manner possible, utilising the uniform and PPE issued
  • Responsible for self and others to maintain a safe working environment as per the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent UK and EU amendments
  • HSE management in accordance with our (Interserve) Quality Management System and all legal and statutory requirements
  • Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, ensuring they are made aware of work order progress in a timely manner
  • Must be physically fit and able to carry tools and equipment by hand up to 20kg.
  • Able to ascend/descend vertical access equipment and able to work at height.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • ACRIB Blue or Gold card holder with C&G2079 CAT1 or meet the full criteria to obtain a card:
  • Blue Card
  • Level 2 Apprenticeship Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning which includes an F Gas Unit or if not included in the apprenticeship a separate F Gas Qualification.
  • C&G 6187 Level 2 NVQ Diplomas or Certificates or older NVQs eg 6087 L2, City & Guilds craft or advanced craft or SCOTVEC are only acceptable if the candidate also has an F Gas qualification.
  • Gold Card
  • Level 3 RACHP Engineering Technician Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning which includes an F Gas Unit or if not included in the apprenticeship a separate F Gas Qualification
  • C&G 6187 Level 3 NVQ Diplomas or Certificates
  • older NVQ 6087 L3 are only acceptable if the candidate also has an F Gas qualification
  • 5 Years post qualification working in the FM industry in trade preferably in Critical Engineering.
  • LV Electrical Awareness and Safe Isolation trained.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence
  • A high level of technical knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems
