Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work with an automotive supplier developing exciting technology for the automotive market from the North East of England. This opportunity is for an Mechanical Design Engineer who holds more tha 5 years of experience and is capable of Clean-sheet mechanical design and development of enclosures, heat ex changers and related electro-mechanical components ideally from an automotive background as the components are for automotive power electronic products.Essential experience:

  • Design, development and delivery of prototype/low volume components and related tooling
  • Packaging of electronic components or assemblies in mechanical housings
  • Hands-on assembly of prototype hardware
  • Use of hand calculations and appropriate analysis software (ANSYS, MATLAB, STAR-CCM+, FLUENT etc) to validate designs
  • Creation of high-quality 3D models and assemblies using Solidworks or similar CAD tool
  • Appropriate selection of materials and manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles
    • Desirable Experience:
  • Experience with rotating electric machines or Power Electronics
  • Heat ex changer sizing and design
  • Good understanding and experience of working with a wide variety of materials and production processes.
