Job Description

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Legal Team in Newcastle on a temporary basis for up to 12 months, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent. You will report to a UK-based lawyer but also be part of an international team of lawyers whoare based in Malta and Sweden and you will be required to work on projects related to all LeoVegas Group entities.Duties and responsibilities would include (but not be limited to):

  • Drafting & reviewing a variety of agreements (such as software licences, gaming licence providers, payment processing contracts, non-disclosure agreements) and any other legal documentation as necessary as well as the handling of negotiations pertainingthereto;
  • Assisting on corporate matters such as mergers, share transfers, company incorporations, as well as drafting/preparation of corporate documentation such as M&As, resolutions, companies house forms, minutes of board meetings etc. and ensuring group entitiesmeet various company law requirements;
  • Advising the business on various employment law related matters;
  • Handling, managing or assisting with intellectual property related tasks (such as registration of new IP such as trademarks, enforcement of the companys intellectual property rights and licensing);
  • Monitoring, conducting research and advising on legal and regulatory developments in relevant legal fields in various jurisdictions;
  • Assisting Senior Counsel with and advising the business on disputes and litigation in which the company is involved, instructing and liaising with external lawyers where necessary;
  • Ensuring appropriate processes and procedures are in place in respect of assigned areas of responsibility;
  • Advising the business on various legal matters as necessary such as general contract law, topical legal issues and handling legal aspects of multiple projects undertaken by the business.
  • Dealing with any post-contractual legal issues that may arise; and
  • Involvement and timely progression of ongoing commercial contracts and negotiations.
Qualifications
  • Qualified solicitor with demonstrable experience either in-house or within a private practice law firm.
  • Self-driven and able to take ownership of all tasks and projects and drive them through to completion, prioritising workload accordingly.
  • Uphold a high standard of work ethic, always ensuring to complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • A team player who enjoys a multicultural and multinational environment.
  • Experience gained in the gaming industry / technology sector would be an additional benefit.
