Job Description

Lead Internal AuditorOur client is a highly profitable and ambitious service business that has grown phenomenally from scratch to c.£350m sales and 440 staff in approx. 15 years. Its finance department and people have grown and progressed with the company and the departmentis now c.20 people strong. The company is now on the next stage of its truly amazing journey and we’re now looking to help further strengthen the finance team, by recruiting a progressive, career-minded and commercially-focussed qualified accountant to a newlycreated Lead Internal Auditor role.Reporting the Finance Director and Head of Financial Reporting you’ll be the company’s dedicated internal audit resource with responsibility for improving systems, processes and controls, with a view to growing and leading a team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and performing the full audit cycle including finance risk management, control and reporting including developing internal audit scope and plans
  • Reviewing of financial reports and financial statements to ensure a true and fair view (including completeness, accuracy, validity and existence of assets, liabilities and transactions)
  • Challenging the finance team on results, also ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Implementing internal processes and controls for existing and new projects, working with the business to utilise automation
  • Ensuring processes and procedures being followed across business functions
  • Prepare and present reports that reflect audit results
  • Documenting processes
  • Identify improvements and mitigate risk
  • Maintain open communication with management and audit committee
  • Keeping up to date with sector rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards
You’ll offer:
  • A confident, proactive and commercially-focussed approach strong, internal or external, financial audit/assurance experience
  • ACA, CIMA, ACCA qualified or equivalent
  • A progressive, ambitious and flexible approach
