We are also in charge of keeping people safe from a wide range of natural risks and dangers.About the AcademyYou can become a Junior Cloud Engineer or a Junior IT Security Professional by joining this Academy.This job description is for the Junior Cloud Engineer. The Cloud Engineers job is to create, plan, manage, and maintain the technical parts of Cloud Systems. Cloud systems are used across Defra and the community it supports.If you want to learn about technology and are interested in the Academy, you should apply to join.About you:You should want to learn about new technologies, platforms, and apps. Youll be excited about what it would mean to work in technology. You should care about what Defra is trying to do and want to make the world a better place.The academy has training that can be done on the job, in a classroom, or online. By joining the academy, you will:

  • Our Academy programme will run across one of our five hubs:
    • Newcastle
    • Warrington
    • York
    • Bristol
    • Reading
  • People who join the Academy will start out making between £24,918 and £26,584 per year
  • To apply, you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to work in the UK
  • You will be required to work in your local office on a hybrid basis
  • If you get onto the Academy you will either already have Security Clearance or be happy for us to set up Security Clearance for you
