Job Description

We are looking to recruit an Infrastructure Specialist, to join the Technology team in one of the UKs leading independent providers of discretionary wealth management, and who offer award-winning personalised wealth management services that meet the varied needs of over 100,000 clients, including individuals and charities.

  • The role is an Infrastructure Specialist within the Cloud & Platform Infrastructure team, providing technical expertise and operational support across a wide range of infrastructure platforms and services, supporting the aims and objectives of the overall Technology function.
  • The role will contribute to the security, availability, integrity and day-to-day support of core infrastructure services, including an on-premise VMware hosting platform, Windows-based server estate and Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS public cloud deployment.
    • The successful candidate will divide their time between BAU operational support & project work, while also undertaking support and development of both the businesss on-premise and cloud-hosted infrastructure services, working closely with other operations and development teams to protect existing production services and facilitate the introduction of new business services.The next 24 months will involve a period of transition in how we deliver and manage our services as we accelerate our adoption of immutable infrastructure platforms and containerised applications.This is a great opportunity for someone with a track record in infrastructure management and support of cloud technologies to acquire experience of a wide range of new services, particularly in the area of infrastructure automation and modernisation.
  • Experience in all aspects of enterprise Windows platform management with versions up to and including Server 2019.
  • General administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows Server platforms
  • Support and development of core infrastructure services, including:
  • Windows Server 2012/16/19
  • Virtualisation technologies (VMware)
  • SAN and file storage technologies
  • Active Directory
  • Backup and Recovery tools (e.g. eVault, Azure Backup, Recovery Manager for AD)
  • Configuration Management tools (e.g. SCCM, Group Policy, DSC, Puppet/Chef/Ansible)
  • Automation tools (e.g. Powershell, Packer, Terraform, Git, Azure Devops)
  • Cloud technologies (e.g. Azure AD, Azure Site Recovery)
  • Monitoring tools (e.g. SCOM, Nagios, Solarwinds)
  • Security tools (McAfee AV/ePO, Windows Defender)
  • Container/serverless technologies (e.g. Docker, Azure Functions, Kubernetes)
  • 5+ years specialising in Windows server infrastructure operational support, including administration of on-premise and cloud IaaS/PaaS/SaaS platforms (particularly Microsoft Azure)
  • Experience of vulnerability management processes and software update deployment
  • Experience of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with a focus on building and supporting highly available services
  • Awareness of CI/CD processes, including understanding of automated DevOps release management pipelines & tooling (Azure DevOps, etc.)
