Job Description

Head of TaxOur client is a highly profitable and ambitious technology-driven service group that has grown phenomenally from scratch to c.£350m sales and c.500 staff in approx. 15 years. Its finance department and many key people have grown and progressed with a team thatis now c.25 strong. Further to recently securing strong Private Equity backing, the company is now on the next stage of its truly amazing journey and, further to the appointment of its new CFO, we’re looking to appoint a first-rate Head of Tax to establishand build a strong Tax function.Working as part of finance leadership team and closely with external advisors, this is an exciting opportunity to develop and build the function from "square one", where you’ll be responsible for all tax activities, including:

  • Managing all internal Tax matters and reporting processes
  • Reviewing policies and evolution of tax law, regulations and standards, responding to opportunities and risk
  • Coordinating tax compliance and reporting
  • Understanding the impact of tax on cashflow
  • Managing capital allowance and R&D projects
  • Assessing new contracts and projects for tax and VAT implications
  • Coordination of Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) and other regulatory requirements
As Head of Tax you’ll offer:
  • Strong experience gained in senior Tax role such as Tax Manager, perhaps gained "in-house" and ideally with practical knowledge of corporation tax schedules and reporting
  • Broad tax knowledge encompassing VAT, R&D and compliance beneficial
  • Qualification such as CTA, ACA or ACCA preferred
  • Strong project management experience and an ability to work independently
  • First class communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Benefits and rewards:
  • Rate of pay c.£70k + bonus + benefits

  • Flexible hybrid working (3 office/2 home days per week)

  • Hours 8.30am - 5.30pm, hol. 22 days + stats, increasing with service
