Our client based in the North East is looking for an Estimator who has experience in engineering, welding and fabrication. The role will be responsible for gathering project quantities so that accurate estimates can be calculated during the tendering process.The role will work with the supply chain and project teams to ensure proposals can be turned around as quickly as possible.Responsibilities:• Responsible for the accurate estimation of materials and the preparation of quote submission of multiple bids• Analyse and interpret technical specifications, reference drawings and technical documents• Identify areas of risk in the estimation and implement plans to mitigate such risks, escalating whenever necessary• Assist with post tender and pre-contract requirements providing cost considerations and evaluating of the contract• Ensure that the cost estimates are prepared and submitted on time and in full• Complete all cost estimation requests in a timely manner• Support Lean System activities within the team and support continuous improvement initiatives• Develop, implement, and continuously update the cost estimation strategy• Support the supply chain with the benchmarking of suppliers• Track all material costs against initial estimates and escalate any risk of margin erosion with Application team and management• Agree and communicate cost estimates, lead times to the proposals team.The Person• Time served Engineer qualified to HNC level and above• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing technologies such as fabrication, machining, forging, welding etc• Strong analytical and technical skills• Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities• Good organisational skills with a high degree of self motivation• Ability to work as part of a team as well as being a self-starter.
