Job Description

Cyber Security ManagerLocation: Newcastle upon TyneSalary: £50,000 - £60,000Type: PermanentThis national company are looking for a Cyber Security Manager to manage the provision of an IT security services on behalf of the company and for its diverse customer base. You will take every opportunity to protect against changes in technology and the external threats. You will lead the design and delivery of the IT security infrastructure and associated technologies, tools, and processes to support a robust IT service while maintaining operational effectiveness for IT customers.Challenges of this role will include ensuring delivery of the robust IT security service for the company and its customer base whilst mitigating ever more sophisticated cyber threats against the integrity and availability of the systems and data. Further responsibilities will include managing the competing agendas of an agile workforce against a background of security risks to prevent a prolonged outage or significant data breach. Working with highly complex, technical information will be part of your day to day role, however you may need to present it in a way that is appropriate to audiences of various levels of technical understanding to ensure that all measures are followed.Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the provision of IT and Security services
  • Define and agree the appropriate target security structure regarding risks, threats, and vulnerabilities
  • Maintain compliance with various standards in place
  • Lead the design and delivery of the IT security infrastructure and associated technologies
  • Seek and implement continuous service improvement
  • Identify and proactively manage the cyber risks, threats and vulnerabilities associated with the delivery of strategic plans and operational service ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or respond.
  • Justify, secure, set and effectively manage IT revenue and capital budgets, ensuring value for money and realisation of benefits.
  • Lead internal and external cyber audit plans
  • To provide effective leadership, training, support, generate enthusiasm and motivation in the team members to ensure that they are appropriately empowered to carry out the responsibilities of their role.
    • Skills and requirments for the role:
  • Professional qualification at master’s degree level or CISSP or CISM
  • Demonstrable experience of defining, agreeing and then delivering an appropriate target security posture/strategy across complex pan-organisation environments
  • Specialist knowledge of enterprise level cyber security solutions
  • Significant experience in design of complex IT infrastructure solutions with a focus on security, process, and controls
  • Highly specialist analytical skills to interpret complex security standards and requirements to derive workplans for the team
  • Specialist knowledge of logging, audit and threat assessment tools and techniques
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing proactive threat management solutions across organisations
  • Aptitude to design and document appropriately technical solutions that will fit into long-term business objectives and strategy
