Job Description

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist, with some programming experience, who would like to work in a modern, clean, warm factory, offering excellent working conditions and career prospectsOur client is a large, growing independent precision engineering company, making components for the nuclear, defence and renewables industries with machining capabilities from 3mm diameter to 50 tonne components,and need additional permanent CNC Machinists.

  • Excellent rate of pay of up £22 per hour (inclusive of shift allowance), potential with overtime to earn in excess of £50,000 per year
  • 2 weeks days, followed by 2 weeks of night shift (night shift premium is 30%)
  • 37 hour working week (30 minute unpaid lunch break)

Hours of work:
  • Monday & Thursday: 7.303.30pm
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: 7.304pm
  • Friday: 7.301.30pm
  • Nights: 9.45pm7.30am (MondayThursday)
Reporting to theCell Manager and will have the primary function of undertaking duties associated with the setting and operating of the CNC machines on the shop floor.Duties:
  • Operate machines to required quality standards and in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications
  • Programme machines to produce single, small batch or a series of components and finished products
  • Work with a range of materials including exotic materials, nickel, super alloys, stainless steel, brass, duplex and aluminium
  • Interpret engineering drawings and work with imperial and metric measures to ensure dimensional accuracy
  • Use a range of measuring equipment and have a working knowledge of inspection procedures in order to undertake self-inspection
  • Work as part of the machine shop team and interface with the production support departments including production control, engineering, and maintenance
  • Operate computer systems for the recording of work activities
  • Support the training of apprentices and trainees
  • Work in a safe manner; driving positive behaviour and leading by example with regard to the companys health, safety and environmental policies
  • Carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected
