Job Description

Catering AssistantLocation: Newcastle upon TyneJob Type: Part time, term time plus specified daysHours: 12.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 12.00-2.30pmSalary: £23,151 per annum (£12.00 per hour, inclusive of Real Living Wage)*This post attracts the Real Living Wage supplement. In addition to the hourly rate, this post will receive the Real Living Wage supplement to bring the hourly rate up to a minimum of £12.00 per hour.The Council are currently looking for reliable and friendly people with a positive attitude to join their School Meal team as a Catering Assistant. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. The role will be based at Walkergate PrimarySchool.The RoleFacility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing school meals, welfare catering services They have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chef’sand chef’s working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.Their service is committed to delivering a high standard of service to their customers and in doing so investing in their staff and staff development.The Council are looking for someone who:

  • Is a team player but able to use your own initiative
  • Can have good relationships with others
  • Is self-motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines
  • Has a flexible approach to work, hours and locations
  • Is customer focused
  • Can deliver to required standards
  • Is suitable to work with children and young people
  • Is capable of regular stooping, bending, lifting and carrying.
  • Is able to undertake written and spoken instructions and speak English.
