Job Description

Business Support OfficerLocation: Newcastle upon TyneSalary: £19,312 - £20,493 per annumBusiness Support vacancies supporting

Business Support provide an enabling service to all areas of the Council. The Business Support teams are flexible and responsive and there will be opportunities to move between teams to gain experience of the services across the council.If you are a team player who is enthusiastic and committed to providing an excellent customer focussed service, our client would welcome applications for the current opportunities listed below.You will be working in a reactive team supporting one of the areas listed below. You will have excellent communications skills, the ability to deal with challenging situations and work to statutory or regulatory deadlines. You should have the ability tomultitask and deal with changing priorities. It would be an advantage if you have previous experience of working with a case management system. You should be fully familiar with data protection and the use of MS Office / Office 365.In your application you need to demonstrate that you meet the essential criteria listed in the person specification and give recent relevant examples of how you meet that criteria.In response to the current Coronavirus pandemic you may be expected to work in a flexible way between an office base and remotely from your home depending on which area of the business you will be supporting.Supporting Adult Social Care and Integrated Services:The council have vacancies in their support to Connie Lewcock and Byker Lodge resource centres. You need to be able to work in different resource centres to cover holidays and assist with workloads. You should be able to adapt to IT systems, communicatewith vulnerable people on the phone and face to face, including adults with mental health difficulties such as dementia. You will work as the sole Business support officer on site, so need to be able to use own initiative and manage your own workload withoutsupervision as well as retain knowledge of procedures supporting different service areas. The IT systems that are used are CareFirst, Total view, Eclipse, and MS Office.Supporting Childrens Social Care:The council have a vacancy in their team which supports the Initial Response Service. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills, have the ability to deal with challenging situations and work under pressure. You should be able to dealwith difficult and vulnerable services users over the phone. Have the ability to mutli task and deal with a high workload with changing priorities with tight deadlines. The IT systems that are used are CareFirst, Total view, secure email and MS Office.They also have a vacancy in their team which supports the Childrens Safeguarding Standards Unit. The role involves minute taking at Child Protection Conferences and other statutory meetings. This is a part time role 0.6 FTE. You should have excellent communicationsskills, and the ability to deal with challenging situations and work under pressure. You must be able to mutli task and deal with a high workload with changing priorities with tight deadlines. You must be able to take notes at meetings live. The IT systemsthat are used are CareFirst, Total view, secure email and MS Office &TeamsSupporting Travel Office:The council have a vacancy in the Travel Office which coordinates requests for travel for Members and Officers. You should have excellent IT and organisation skills. You should be customer focussed and have good communication skills. You should also havethe ability to prioritise and multi task. The IT systems that are used are Microsoft Office, an online system for booking travel, and various payment systems.Supporting Complaints and Customer Service and Schools Appeals:The council have two vacancies in the team who support Complaints and Customer Service and Schools Appeals. The team deal with complaints received in relation to Children Education and Skills and Adult Social Care. You should be customer focussed and haveexperience of dealing with customers some of whom may be vulnerable. You should be calm and professional when dealing with complainants queries.
