Business Intelligence DeveloperUp to £400 - outside of IR35Newcastle upon Tyne (remote to begin with)Initial 3 month contract, subject to extensionA key client of ours are in the process of evolving their data warehousing strategy, in a bid to bolster capacity, architecture and productivity; to allow for better data usage and access as a result. The department are really into the story behind the data and are looking for the successful candidate to have the same itch and desire to quantifies the why.Key responsibilities:* Translate business needs to technical specifications* Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)* Maintain and support data analytics platforms* Create tools to store data (e.g. OLAP cubes)* Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting* Evaluate and improve existing BI systems* Collaborate with teams to integrate systems* Develop and execute database queries and conduct analyses* Create visualizations and reports for requested projects* Develop and update technical documentationRequired skills:* Proven experience as a BI Developer* MS SQL (up to 2016)* Industry experience is preferred* Background in data warehouse design (ideally Kimball) and data mining* In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework* Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Power Apps)* Knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)* Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative* Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitudeDesired skills:* Azure DevOps* Agile* SSAS* SSIS* Microsoft Visio/Draw.io
