Job Description

NRG’s IT specialist recruitment team are delighted to be working with a well-established vehicle insurance company based in Newcastle. They are looking to appoint a vital admin application support technician to assist in the smooth running of many of their exceptionally regarded platforms. You will assist in the smooth running of the vital business applications within the insurance suite. Where you will be carrying out Linux based; 24/7 monitoring, problem solving and maintenance on their (largely cloud based) applications.Job Responsibilities:

  • You will take charge of planning and executing deployments in a safe, controlled, and repeatable way.
  • Take ownership of maintenance and running of the supported applications.
  • Ensure the quality of the data captured on tickets to allow collective co-ordination.
  • Contribute to the development of the applications’ IS capability.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining an improvement plan for the supported applications
  • You’ll be capable of openly and visibly communicating risks, operational problems and incidents to the appropriate teams.
  • Establish and analyse metrics to ensure resources are appropriately utilized.
  • Performing work in alignment with ITIL and ISO 270010 to assert the continual improvement of the Infrastructure of applications.
  • You should maintain monitoring of Infrastructure applications to ensure the smooth running of the business.
  • Finally, carrying out Investigation of issues and problems, analysing their causes, reviewing the scope and impact of these issues, and then suggesting resolutions.
  • Provide guidance to helpdesk/desktop teams on use of applications.
  • Carry out auditing with the applications when required.
    • Required qualifications/experience:
  • Experience working in application support; ITIL/ ISO207001 environments.
  • Linux System Admin experience.
  • Programming languages: Linux/Unix Shell, Ruby, Python or Gosu.
  • Understanding of application architecture/ architectural principles.
  • Source Control and collaborative development experience (GIT, GitHub, Bitbucket).
  • Integration mechanisms such as REST, API SOAP etc.
  • Experience in SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, FaaS.
  • Elasticsearch, Kibana, Nomad.
