Job Description

Transport ManagerLocation: StaffordshireSalary: £35-45,000 + benefitsOur client is a market leading FMCG organisation and is seeking an exceptional Transport manager from a Retail, FMCG, Agricultural, Gas or 3PL background.You will be the nominated O License holder and responsible for ensuring continuous and effective control, resulting in full legal compliance with the Operators Licence. To manage the commercial performance of the vehicle fleet in line with financial budgets (you will have budgetary responsibility) and targets. Leading a progressive team of 25-30 employees your management style will inspire to shape the site for the future including a digital agenda. You will also have responsibility for maximising equipment and resource whilst minimising cost a real CI mentality.The role:

  • Responsible for designing and delivering of the operational £2.7m budget for the site
  • Lead both the strategic and operational transportation effort for the site
  • Create and deliver KPI’s for the team
  • To manage and comply with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems policy and legislation.
  • Working collaboratively with the production site
  • Manage all drivers to full legal compliance.
  • Review and pro-actively manage your line reports training requirements.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate line reports to achieve all Key Performance Indicators.
  • Agree and achieve the transport budget with the Operations Manager.
  • Work with finance to achieve all budgetary targets and objectives
  • Develop and maintain all relationships with key service providers to ensure full legal compliance.
  • Effectively resolve any issues arising from customer, drivers or third parties to the satisfaction of those concerned.
  • Liaise with the Operation/Site Manager to ensure full utilisation of the supply chain. Manage and monitor the scheduling team to ensure these targets are achieved.
    • The Person:
  • Previous Transport management experience gained withinRetail, FMCG, Agricultural, Gas or 3PL industries.
  • CPC National qualified
  • Previous experience owning and delivering a budget, compliance, team leadership and H&S Leadership within a complex environment
  • Change management leadership experience
  • Driver management leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Distribution Scheduling
  • Experience working in a progressive distribution company
  • Good at organisation, proactive and commercially savvy Au fait with your profession and prepared to work within the wider supply chain
