Job Description

Mechanical Craftsperson (Mechanical Maintenance Engineer)Saint Gobain Formula, Newark.Days with some weekend workingAt Saint-Gobain people matter to us, and we try to show that every day. A leading manufacturer and supplier of gypsum and industrial plaster products supplied by the bag, the pallet, or tanker for a range of applications.As a Mechanical Craftsperson you will be working on a day shift basis with some rota weekend working. The role is predominantly a reactive maintenance and repair role working across a mill and packaging plant in a robust site that leans toward a heavierengineering environment such as aggregates, quarrying, mining, recycling or similar.Duties include:

  • Responding to plant issues and failures, delivering repair in a timely and safe manor to ensure continued production.
  • Working through CMMS maintenance schedules supporting with equipment servicing and periodic maintenance.
  • Apply root cause analysis, countermeasures; collect and communicate relevant data regarding maintenance problems
  • Support the Professional Maintenance Pillar & the Workshop 5S program
  • Coach & assist operators with autonomous maintenance tasks and challenge operating standards
  • Proactively support the Newark safety function by participating in safety audits.
What skills and experience are we looking for
  • The applicant will have served a recognised mechanical apprenticeship or demonstrate a minimum of NVQ3 Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering with relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience of Professional Maintenance
  • Computer literacy
  • A flexible and willing approach to working hours and deployment is essential
  • Attention to detail and persistence will be evident in the successful candidate
  • Experience in using permit to work systems and other safe systems of work.
  • Experience of working to WCM (World Class Manufacturing) or other continuous improvement activities required (heavier industry experience would be desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of using a CMMS system
