You may be an experienced residential worker or perhaps you are just a parent willing to learn and share you experiences. Your salary and training will be based on where you are in your career. Your salaryincreases with training too!There’s no getting away from it, this job isn’t easy- nothing worth doing is. Under the direction of a consultant psychologist you’ll provide therapeutic support to vulnerable young people through play and engagement.It’s not 9 to 5. You’ll work early starts, late finishes and sleep over on rota basis. Usually you’ll work 7 shifts on a rolling 3 week basis. You’ll work on a 1 2 1 basis with young people in short intense bursts, again in collaboration with your team mates.People who are used to working with vulnerable people are great candidates, as are those who are patient and professional. These young people have complex situations and many have experienced abuse. Expect to be tested, before you are trusted.That said, it just might be the most rewarding job on the local market today.
