Job Description

Software Development Team LeaderWould you like to play a key role in one of the most significant Command and Control (C2) capability upgrade programmes undertaken by the Royal Navy in recent years We currently have a vacancy for a Software Development Team Leader at our site in New Malden.As a Software Development Team Leader, you will be working on the complex Electronic Warfare capability upgrade programme for the Royal Navy, managing the workload, resources and product delivery of the Electronic Warfare Command and Control (EWC2) software team. Key to this role will be to ensure all software development activities are delivered in accordance with quality standards and agreed plans.This role will provide you with the opportunity to lead a team responsible for developing a significant element of the enhanced capability within our combat systems product portfolio. This role could also lead to development opportunities within our combat systems team or the wider BAE Systems Business.Your main responsibilities as a Software Development Team Leader will involve: Manage the Software Team on a daily basis. Be responsible for all cost/budget aspects, assignment of tasks, tracking and reporting on activities.Management of team resources and forward planning. The role will require management of resources within a matrix organisation, with conflicting needs and timescales.Supporting the production of training plans, running performance and development reviews and overseeing the general development of members of the team.Support the technical leads with what they require helping to define the way ahead and strategy.Being the main point of contact into the team.Liaison with the customer and other teams within the projects to achieve the completion of the projects to time, quality and budgetYour skills and qualifications:Essential: Experience of managing a software development teamTechnical understanding of the software development lifecycleAbility to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment with financial responsibilities.Understanding of earned value management techniquesDesirable:Experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environmentBudget management experienceWhat were looking for in you:You will be a highly motivated individual with a strong desire to succeed despite setbacks.
