Job Description

Project ArchivistLocation: Eurocentral - MotherwellSalary: £15,000 per annum + Excellent BenefitsHours: 17.5 Hours per weekContract: Fixed Term until May 2025. Other opportunities may open up within the organisation.The Project Archivist will support with delivering a programme that researches the heritage of disabled people in North Lanarkshire and informs community activity led by disabled people, as well as the development of an online resource that records Enable’s70-year corporate heritage.The Best in You Brings Out the Best in MeEnable is a dynamic and vibrant organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities and we are looking for a dynamic and motivated Project Coordinator to join us.Today we are a thriving charity, one of the largest in Scotland and the UK, and the years 2023 and 2024 mark significant anniversaries for us - 2023 being the 30th Anniversary of our advocacy programme, and 2024 being the 70th Anniversary of Enable itself.We want to empower communities across North Lanarkshire to recognise the local history and positive changes made by people with learning disabilities to human rights and life in Scotland.We want to celebrate and promote the heritage of the social changes for people with learning disabilities over the last 70 years, and the role that Enable, the nation’s largest disability charity, along with its members, have played in making that change.About YouThe primary responsibilities of this candidate will be:1. To establish and initiate Enable’s heritage programme- including relationships with local stakeholders and heritage organisations.2. To work with the Scottish Business Archives Council for Scotland in documenting and consolidating Enable’s corporate heritage.3. To research North Lanarkshire’s archives and heritage information to document the heritage of disability rights locally.4. To establish networks of staff of different generations who have supported people with a disability locally and capture their thoughts and memories on the heritage of disability rights.5. To establish networks of staff of different generations of parents and carers locally and capture their thoughts and memories on the heritage of disability rights.6. To work with a Project Coordinator to develop a programme for disabled young people and adults that engages them in local heritage and informs community activity.7. To work with a Project Coordinator in the development of a toolkit that shares the skills and competencies necessary for young disabled people to work in local heritage roles.8. To lead the development of an online record of Enables corporate heritage, local research work as well as memories and reflections from beneficiaries of the programme.9. To ensure all delivery meets regulatory and compliance standards, including Health and Safety and Child Protection.10. Any other duties as may be reasonably requested in order to deliver the programme.We are looking for someone who has:- Experience of working in the archives, information or heritage sectors (or demonstrable interest).- Experience of documenting oral histories.- Experience of cataloguing or editing online content, or demonstrable ability to summarise information coherently and accurately from a variety of manuscripts,printed and digital sources.- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to explain cataloguing information and engage with colleagues from other departments.- Excellent IT skills, with competence in using Excel and standard Microsoft Office packages.- Experience of working as the sole archivist within a wider team.- Working knowledge of copyright and data protection legislation, in relation to record Keeping.- Recognised postgraduate qualification in archives management or ability to demonstrate an equivalent knowledge of archival theory and practice.- Registered Member of the Archives & Records Association working towards registration, or able to otherwise demonstrate that you meet equivalent competency levels.About Us:At Enable we believe in developing all our staff and we provide an extensive learning programme together with in-house career development opportunities.We also have an excellent range of staff benefits on offer including but not limited to:- Health cash plans providing a wide range of health benefits to help people cover the cost of their everyday health care.- Employee Assistance Programme- Cycle to Work Scheme*- Season Ticket Loans*Starting a career with Enable is the first step towards making a real difference in our award-winning charity’s mission to help create an equal society for every person who has a learning disability.Enable is an equal opportunities employer and our recruitment, selection and assessment process is based entirely on values, skills and competencies required of the specific roles.*Terms and Conditions Apply
