Job Description

A global player in the building materials sector are recruiting for a Materials Chemist to handle all chemistry activities for their site near Motherwell. As a Materials Chemist you will be responsible for undertaking all QC, QA and R&D activities on site working with production to delivery high quality materials to customers. You will conducting QC testing on a range of products including cement, concrete and mortars, working autonomously to modify products to the required standard.To be considered for this Materials Chemist position you will have a degree in Chemistry or closely related subject, and possess previous QC/R&D industrial experience within a physical chemistry environment ideally working with cement, concretes and mortars. You will have previous experience in conducting various physical and mechanical testing such as hardness, impact and tensile testing working to ISO 9001 standards.Key Responsibilities

  • Autonomously conduct QC activities on a daily basis.
  • Conduct quality engineering activities and investigation such as root cause analysis and product trend analysis.
  • Deliver product development projects from all stages from concept through to launch.
  • Coordinate and execute ISO 9001 internal audits.
  • Identify continuous improvement projects to improve quality or to reduce cost.
  • Ensure EHS policies and procedures are met on site.
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum BSc in Chemistry or closely related subject.
  • Previous QC or R&D experience within a physical chemistry manufacturing environment, ideally within the building materials sector.
  • Previous industrial experience working with cements, concretes or mortars is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work and make decisions autonomously.
