Job Description

GBR Recruitment Ltd are working in partnership with a multi discipline building & surveying practice that is going through a substantial growth period, recruiting for an experienced time served Chartered Building Surveyor / Building Surveyor (very experienced & time served, if not chartered) to work across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Central Belt of Scotland & other surrounding areas commutable from there (occasionally supporting branchesin the North East etc.).This is an unrivalled professional Building Surveying opportunity, within an award winning organisation boasting platinum investor in people status, offering a family feel vibrant working atmosphere, along with real career progression plans plus modern flexiblework / life balance working patterns (they will consider home based, part office based or full time office based).The company is part of a Group PLC, so it has the family business type feel partnered with the strength, power & support of a major PLC giving the business the edge over many companies within this competitive built environment sector.If you want to develop your career to the highest heights, then this is the company to offer just that, with them promoting from within 9 out of 10 times, for instance all their Board of Directors are long term employees that have climbed the ranks as itis a people centric business that believes its core strengths are in its people.This is also a highly varied interesting & fun Surveying role, within the expanding Scottish HQ working closely with an array of diverse clients on an array of differing projects, end users being Insurance Companies (Insurance Claims Surveying), Large Corporations,Estate Managers, High Net Worth Individuals & Property Owners covering both Public & Private sectors.The role will be to complete, manage and develop surveying / engineering work in Scotland, working from home, with a view to establish an office in central Scotland in the coming months until then it will be purely home based then reverting to hybrid workingonce an office is set up (2-3 days office / 2-3 days home).Duties:

  • Inspect and provide advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of all types of building types and sites
  • Inspections to involve acquisition surveys, dilapidations and condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
  • Preparation of reports of all types and works specifications for commercial and residential properties
  • Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and to current technical standards
  • Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services
  • Fully understand and apply other relevant legislation such as health and safety, party wall, building regulations and planning
  • Playing a key part in actively promoting the companys services to secure projects and promote the company / services
  • Supervision and support of all APC candidates to promote knowledge and understanding
Qualifications:Ideally MRICS or working towards / in final stages of becoming certifiedExperience:
  • Extensive experience / working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying of properties, standard architectural & planning practices and procedures, supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements, technical publications and guidelines
  • Proficient in defect diagnosis and report writing
  • Experience in dilapidations
  • Insurance repair works project experience (preferred)
  • Key skills include being a strong negotiator, supervisor and leader
  • Confident working to tight deadlines
  • Experience in CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regs legislation
