Job Description

Your World Healthcare is a leading specialist healthcare recruitment agency, placing a range of healthcare professionals including Non-Clinical and Clinical positions.

  • Are you an experienced Porter
  • Have you worked as a Porter within the NHS, Healthcare or Public Sector
  • Are you happy to work within a Hospital based in either Moseley, West Heath or Selly Oak Birmingham
  • Are you happy to work on Covid-19 wards Please Note: Relevant PPE will be provided
  • Are you happy to register with Your World Healthcare and complete mandatory online training modules in order to begin employment successfully, as part of your application process
  • Do you have a current enhanced DBS dated in the last 12 months or a current DBS certificate registered on the update service with no cautions/convictions
  • If you do not hold a current valid DBS, will you be happy to apply for this as part of your application via Your World Healthcare (Please Note: A valid in-date clean DBS is required for you to commence employment successfully
  • Lastly, can you commence employment immediately once you are fully registered/compliant
    • Job Title: PorterStarting: ASAPDuration: This is a temporary role until April, potential to go on for longerLocation: Moseley, West Heath or Selly Oak (Birmingham)Working Days/Hours:
  • Moseley 4x Staff Required to work Full Time (37.5 hours per week) Monday - Sunday, Various Shifts Patters (8 Hour Shifts)
  • West Heath 2x Staff Required to work Full Time (37.5 hours per week) Monday - Sunday, Various Shifts Patterns (12 Hour Shifts)
  • Selly Oak 1x Staff Required to work Full Time (37.5 Hours Per week) Monday - Friday 07:00-15:00
    • Pay: £9.77 PAYE Holiday inclusive per hourDuties:
  • Responsible for the delivery of the portering service across Trust premises via the Facilities task management system.
  • Delivery and collection of equipment and beverages to site functions
  • Collection, delivery, sorting and franking of post to and from clinical areas and departments.
  • Where appropriate collection of food waste from wards.
  • Where appropriate utilise and maintain equipment to assist movement, for example, powered tugs.
  • Collection of foul/soiled linen from clinical areas.
  • Collection of refuse and clinical waste including sharps boxes from clinical areas and departments.
  • Collection and delivery of samples from clinical areas.
  • To accept delivery of oxygen and other medical gas deliveries and be responsible for onward delivery to clinical areas and departments. Respond to ad hoc requests for medical gases.
  • Cleaning outside areas and other areas as necessary, i.e. loading bay.
  • Safely moving furniture/ equipment using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques.
  • To ensure timely delivery of sterile equipment within the building following infection control procedures as applicable.
  • Collection and distribution of pharmacy boxes.
  • Assisting the lifting and manual handling (Pat Slide) of patients during transportation from the internal wards to the X-Ray department.
  • To escort patients, including for people with additional needs/ in wheelchair.
  • Support the movement of goods, equipment and people during an incident e.g. Fire Alarm.
    • Please note:***This role is likely to be on Covid-19 Wards.
