Job Description

  • As a lead systems analyst at Hermes, you will be aligned to the Core software development and support team ensuring the any change is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manage a small (5 person) team of Batch development engineers using a Jira backlog to set the priority of their work.
  • Liaise with both architecture and software development squads to deliver change against the various projects and initiatives we deliver.
  • Working with your team to breakdown high level solution designs into specific Jira ticket deliverables, and driving that work through to completion via your team.
  • From a support perspective you will have your own resolver group in Service Now to manage, pushing incident resolution left where ever possible and through your team analysing and resolving issues across our batch application scope and general data queries/issues.
    • Essential Skills & Experience Required:
  • It goes without saying that we are looking for a self-starter that will pro-actively search for ways to improve our technology choices and the process we use to build and support our software.
  • Strong recent background in systems and data analysis with a broad understanding of ETL tools such as Syncort/File Aid and DMXpress as the team uses these on a daily basis.
  • Technical experience of Batch Processing Platforms such as - JCL, SPROC, Java batch / Scheduling Platforms such as - TWS/JAMS/CA7, XML and Batch Job Monitoring/Alerting tools such as - abend resolution
  • High standard of SQL skills with data analysis and debugging skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle and DB2 Databases
  • Working knowledge of MS DOS/CMD, MS Office Suite, ServiceNow and Jira
  • Experience of validating dashboards/reports that are reading from underlying data
    • Desirable Skills & Experience Required:
  • Version control experience – Git preferred
