They are currently looking to help an individual lay the foundations of asuccessful IT career. The current opportunity will be based at The Morley Academy. The successful candidate will also work very closely with Morley Newlands Academy and Bruntcliffe Academy who are part of the Sount Leeds Hub.This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate IT individual to kick start their IT career at The Gorse Academies Trust whilst undertaking an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 apprenticeship through QA.The employer is highly motivated and committed to progressing the talent of apprentices in the Yorkshire region. They have demonstrable experience attracting and progressing apprentices from entry-level apprenticeships through to full-time permanent positionholders.Main Responsibilities:

  • The Technician will take individual ownership of their hubs helpdesk. This will involve a mixture of support tickets from Post 16 Staff and Students as well as Primary and Secondary staff when supporting the wider IT Hub.
  • You will be the first point of contact, supporting end-users with assistance for desktops, tablets, internet, WiFi, and other academy IT systems.
  • Part of the duties of the Technician will be to oversee computer usage throughout the academy, the person appointed would be expected to have a working knowledge of the main MS Office programs and have a basic understanding of Windows networking environments.
  • The Technician will help administrative and teaching staff in their use of SIMS software, MS Office applications, and other software packages used throughout the academy.
  • The Technician will provide support for all staff and students with classroom/admin computers and ICT devices, they will be able to follow instructions from the senior technician and IT Hub manager.
  • The Technician post will involve the upkeep and maintenance of machines throughout the College/Academy on a regular basis, including where required replacing computer components.
  • You will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and updating of equipment throughout the summer at different academies within the trust.
  • The Technician will liaise with suppliers to procure required equipment whilst querying new equipment and providing insight as to which equipment is most suitable for the academy.
  • The Technician will also be responsible for supporting and maintaining the printer facilities around the academy.
  • The Technician will be expected to help and assist staff and pupils with ICT problems as and when they occur including assisting with password resets and other general queries.
  • The Technician will assist in the installation and maintenance of software on the systems.
  • The Technician will be responsible for the installation and removal of projectors, laptops and AV equipment when required in departmental locations.
  • Assisting in facilitating CPD days, setting up all of the equipment. This may also include assisting in the preparation of academy assemblies and similar events

Entry requirements:You need to have 5 GCSEs
  • Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades D or above
  • 3x GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject
