Horticultural Services Manager Morden, Surrey Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm £30,000 - 32,000 + car allowance + benefitsMy client, based in Morden, are currently recruiting for a knowledgeable and skilled horticulturalist who has experience of working in the grounds maintenance sector, to be responsible for managing a team of 5 staff. Predominantly based in their Morden office, the appointed candidate will be required to travel to and familiarise themselves with the organisations estates, located across England. Main duties shall include:· To manage all horticultural (including Grounds Maintenance and arboricultural) aspects for the organisation including budgets and contracts. · To lead, develop and manage the Ground Maintenance team. · To ensure all Health and Safety elements of the direct labour Grounds Maintenance team and all associated tasks, equipment and materials comply with company polices and current legislation. · To ensure that the direct labour Grounds Maintenance team are suitably resourced and equipment/tools/materials are properly used and maintained. · To be responsible for the delivery of effective, efficient facilities and estate management support, including out of hours response to building alarms and community facilities. · To manage and monitor the safety and condition of all trees on the organisations land to ensure risks are mitigated and health of the trees maintained. Maintain the stock schedule of trees across the organisations land and create/summit planning applications for tree works where required. · To be responsible for procurement of contractors, suppliers, quotations, plants/machinery and tools/materials to ensure good value for money, compliance adherence. · To carry out regular estate, contractor and tenant visits to ensure a high quality of service is provided to the organisation. Inspect void gardens when required and arrange any necessary works. To ensure these requirements are met there may be the occasion when meetings have to arrange outside of normal working hours. · To be responsible for carrying out and recording testing (and organising servicing) of active fire safety systems, office and estate alarms, emergency lighting and door entry systems on the estate reporting any defects to the Line Manager. Essential requirements for this role:· Qualified to at least Diploma Level (or have relevant experience) in Horticulture or related subject · Excellent plant knowledge · Excellent Health and Safety knowledge · Experience in managing teams and budgets · Experience of using and maintaining a large variety of gardening/maintenance tools and light/heavy machinery required. · Ability to write, amend and implement Risk and COSHH assessments · Proven track record of managing staff and contracts · Facilities management skills and knowledge of property maintenance · Full driving Licence Non-essential requirements:· Qualified in Health & Safety management · Qualified in managing risk and health of trees · Qualified in Pesticide application · Qualified in Chainsaw use and felling of small trees Required skills
