Band 7 Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT TherapistTwo positions available: full time 37.5h per week and part time 22.5h per weekAbout the team:Merton Uplift is a primary care mental health service, which incorporates the Merton Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, a Wellbeing service and a Primary Care Recovery and Support Service. Merton IAPT offers evidence based psychological interventions including CBT, IPT, BCT and EMDR to its residents. We are expanding our provision of psychological interventions to include DIT in the near future. The service is professionally led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by the Merton Uplift Service Manager. The clinical team includes qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and CBT Therapists, IAPT High Intensity Trainees, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, all of whom provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.About the role:We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Clinical / Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist to join our committed and hard working team of clinicians. You will be providing Step 3 diagnostic assessments and evidence-based CBT treatment on an individual and group basis to clients aged 18 and over presenting with depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD and eating disorders. You may also be involved in the clinical supervision of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and there will be opportunities to develop particular areas of interest such as working with long term health conditions, working with clients with learning disabilities, working with perinatal clients etc.You will work clinically within primary care settings and be required to work flexible hours in line with the ‘Improving Access’ agenda. The service operates from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and the postholder will be required to work at least one evening per week including occasional Friday evenings. Working hours can be negotiated and many of our clinicians prefer to work condensed hours to allow for a better work/life balance.High quality supervision and CPD are a priority for the team. You will receive regular weekly individual clinical supervision from one of our band 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologists or CBT Therapists working within the service. You will also have the opportunity to attend a monthly clinical training session facilitated by lead clinicians from across the Trust and to attend quarterly CBT training workshops led by highly respected clinicians in their field, for example, Anke Ehlers and Martina Mueller. Many of our IAPT clinicians in the Trust have also received funding to train in further modalities of interest to them e.g. EMDR, DIT, BCT.About the location:The Merton Uplift team work across a number of sites in Merton with bases at the Cricket Green Medical Centre in Mitcham and the Wilson Hospital in Mitcham.Our Trust headquarters is located within the impressive grounds of Springfield University Hospital in Tooting and we also operate in nearly 100 other locations throughout the UK. This is easily accessible via the Northern Line (Tooting Bec Station) and via private transport. The Trust provides subsidised parking fares for all our substantive staff.
