Job Description

Job Title: AccountantReporting to: Director of financeLocation: Mitcham (100% office based)- with the possibility of hybrid after 3 monthsLength of assignment: 6 months with the potential to go perm for the right candidateParking: onsiteHours: 37.5 hours (09.00- 17.00 with 30 mins for lunch)Pay rates: £33.33 per hour PAYE or £42.08 via umbrella company OR £250 day rate.My client, a leading, global manufacturing company based in Mitcham. Are looking for a company accountant to manage all financial and management accounts for their small team of two in finance. You will be part of a larger, global company but this site manageda T/O of £10M. This is an interim role initially with a view to permanent for the right candidate if both parties are happy.Duties and responsibilities working as the accountant:

  • Providing leadership and managerial direction, coaching and development to the assistant accountant in the team.
  • Manage quarterly internal control reviews, audit preparation and year-end and quarter-close procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure the business is has documentation, process flows and support for SOX 404 compliance.
  • Lead monthly and quarter-end closing. Including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and monthly reporting.
  • Annual completion of statutory book, tax filings and external audit for UK entities in conjunction with outside accounting firm.
  • Oversight of all transactional accounting for the business including invoicing, accounts payable, banking, and payroll.
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT tax returns.
  • Manage outsourced finance partners including banks, credit card, payroll and company pensions schemes.
  • Responsible for fixed asset management of business assets and capital projects
  • Responsible for inventory valuation including monitoring of overhead rates, monthly product costing, and oversight of annual inventory count.
  • Support the business with analysis including but not limited to: weekly, monthly and quarterly forecast performance including growth and/or recovery initiatives. Providing data and support for peak performance and profit improvement initiatives.
  • Acts as financial consultant to the business and functional areas regarding financial issues.
  • Reporting to a corporate level including standard costing and overhead reporting.
  • Running weekly payroll of circa 30 employees.
Requirements for a suitable Accountant include:
  • Fully qualified Accountant (preferrable)
  • Experience working in a mid to large size, publicly held, manufacturing company.
  • Experience in an ERP environment with standard cost and an understanding of inventory movements.
  • Use of an ERP system, ideally Oracle
  • Excellent IT experience, including advanced Excel
  • Excellent working knowledge of US GAAP and experience in a SOX environment is required.
