My client is a market leading specialist equipment manufacturer, supplying customers and distributors world-wide. The range of equipment is supplied to various markets including high containment applications, research laboratories, pharmaceutical,healthcare and cleanrooms and they have an excellent reputation in their markets.The company carry out all design, product development, sales, marketing, procurement and equipment assembly and testing at their Yorkshire based facility and they design and build their own PLC control panels. The company has around 15 staff on the shop floor (approx.. 75% mechanical and 25% electrical/controls) for architectural equipment assembly and testing. They have been experiencing significant growth for several years and this is expected to continue. They are expanding into new premises and are recruiting talented individuals to be part of their growth.Requirements:A minimum of 5 years experience in a comparable environment with a minimum of 2 years in a similar production management roleMust be an excellent manager and leaderMust be a good man manager with strong communication skillsNeeds to be very organised and good at detailMust be able to proactively deal with a variety of different projects all with bespoke designs and varying requirements, in a fast-paced environmentMust be comfortable dealing with customers world-wideMust be able to use own initiative and be a solid doer, prepared to be hands-on if requiredA strong engineering and technical background is requiredExcellent computer skills are essential. Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite with good Excel skillsRequired to possess a valid driving license and own transportThe Production Manager reports directly to the Managing DirectorRole and Responsibilities:Full responsibility for all "architectural" work-shop activities including:Mechanical assembly and electrical/controls buildAssembly, inspection and testing of all equipmentProduction planning and scheduling with resource managementShop floor recruitmentLine management of all shop floor staff and contractorsShop floor H&S and RAMSLiaising with customers e.g. agree schedules and delivery timesExpediting suppliers and dealing with quality issues if requiredLiaising with design department regarding queries / issuesLiaising with the Installations & Service Manager e.g. for technical/product advice and allocation of staff for site work / shop-floor as requiredLiaise with Administrator for deliveries in UK and overseas, confirmation of customer accounts etc.Stock control and purchasing and managing storesAttend production meetings (Design/Production/Site)Other tasks as directedThis is a great opportunity to join a market leading organisation as they continue to grow.
