Job Description

Marks Sattin currently have a brilliant opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join a Manufacturing business within the Mirfield/Brighouse area!This role would work within a team of 3 and report directly to the Head of HR, providing expertise in Payroll Legislation business wide, while processing end to end for around 700 staff on a weekly/monthly basis over 3 payrolls.Although this role wouldnt have any direct reports, you would be the Go to person within the payroll department/business while acting as the business lead on the payroll system and time/attendance system and reporting capability of payroll information.For this role, they will pay £37,000 to £42,000 and can also offer hybrid working (1 day a week from home). This role is a full-time position, with an early finish on a Friday!Other Responsibilities include:

  • Liaise with human resources department to monitor and report on joiners, leavers, absence,
holidays and pay rates.
  • Help to create, maintain, and develop payroll policies and procedures.
  • Define standard operating procedures and ensure they remain up-to-date and relevant
through a process of continuous improvement.
  • Make sure that payroll software is efficient and up to date.
  • Make sure that all payroll staff receive the right training.
  • Advise on topics including payment processes, query resolution, SSP, SMP, taxes, etc.
  • Use own initiative to resolve issues and to assist the team where possible, by providing a
range of solutions and seeking advice where necessary
  • Proactively develop and keep up to date with new payroll legislation and compliance
  • Responsible for end-to-end payroll processes including reconciliation and analysis
  • Analyse and report on payroll data to the Group Financial Controller
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to process, systems, and people to drive change
  • Communicate effectively with employees, external stakeholders (audit, HMRC), and internal
