Job Description

Overview and Responsibilities Deputy House Team Leader – Aurora FoxesLocation:Minehead, SomersetSalary: £26,095.05 - £28,481.12 (FTE £28,205.00 - £30,784.00)Hours: 40 hours per week – Term time only plus 10 additional daysContract: 12 month FTCWelcome to Aurora Foxes, a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of Minehead. Foxes is a very special place.We believe in changing lives and giving our students the skills, knowledge, and confidence to successfully shape their own future. Our aim is to equip our young adults with the life and hospitality skills to become work ready, life ready.The main purpose of the role:As a Deputy House Team Leader (DHTL) we expect you to always work professionally and collaboratively with the House Team Leader, including when they may be absent.Your absolute priority is to safeguard the students in your care. You must work professionally, effectively, and sensitively with your team to ensure that all students are safe, feel safe and are listened to with any concerns, and all concerns are actedupon appropriately.Your primary and overriding role is to ensure the health, safety, welfare, and development of all students in your house.Key duties:

  • You are expected to work professionally and collaboratively with your team to motivate students and support them to make substantial and sustained progress.
  • We expect you to set the professional standard with your team, this includes all aspects of the teaching and learning. We therefore always expect the highest professional standards from you in all areas and without exception.
  • Lead, direct and develop your team proactively, effectively, and efficiently always promoting the highest professional standards.
  • We expect you to empower your team and instill confidence in them to ensure that in your absence the standards that you set continue professionally and effectively.
  • You are expected to lead your team in the effective and supportive management of student behaviour.
  • Guide and support any LSP working within your House/Team
  • Lead the House Team in the training, support, and personal development of students, and always safeguarding their health and welfare
  • You are expected to work professionally, collaboratively, and effectively with other Deputy House Team Leaders always, to ensure that the interests and achievements of our students are put first.

  • Level 3 in Elklan, Heath & Social Care or Education & Training is desirable.
  • Level 2 Maths and English or willing to work towards.
  • Safeguarding experience.
  • Experience of working with people with learning difficulties.
  • Willingness to undertake any training required for the role.
  • To be able to work shift patterns including work at the weekend.
