They are a highly-professional multi-disciplined team who bring a wealth of experiencefrom the property and construction industry, who provide a hands-on management approach, taking into account the latest developments and technology across all markets and sectors.They are now seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be based out of their Middlesbrough office who can successfully drive the business forward in the region, deliver existing projects, and maintain key client relationships, whilst being an integral part of theirwider business plan.The opportunity will provide the successful candidate the platform to excel their own professional and personal development as well as provide support and guidance to promote the development of other commercial staff.The RoleThis position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to lead on a number exciting projects and developments in the Tees Valley region across a range of sectors including major projects on Teesworks.Successful candidates will be presented with a great opportunity for career progression whilst at the same time being exposed to cross sector experience, with a particular focus on large commercial and manufacturing developments.Principal accountabilities include;* Demonstrate a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and work as part of the Project Team in early review of techniques and solutions to meet the business and clients objectives* Early identification of business risks in projects throughout their lifecycle, from pre-contract to close out, and ensure that risk management, risk registers and contingencies are in place to manage and minimise the risks* Work to promote and measure continuous improvement in the profitability, costs, quality and learning of all parties* Establish commercial processes and procedures on projects, and apply continuous improvement approach, to maximise returns in terms of profit* Manage, reduce and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities* Maximise cash flow through the timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment* Manage the prompt preparation and settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes* Manage the production of accurate and timely accounts for use in managing the business* Manage the production of accurate and timely project financial forecasts for use in setting targets and managing the business* Establish and maintain robust open and honest reporting structures and monitor resources and costs to ensure that projects meet agreed targets* Through an in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes relating to contracts, ensure that our clients position is protected* Develop awareness of our clients resources available to assist their clients regarding funding aspects of a projectThe Ideal CandidateOur client doesnt do dull and boring, so having an entrepreneurial, charismatic and ambitious spirit is vital, with a keen eye for detail who actively encourages collaborative problem solving, bringing a curious and inquisitive spirit driving learning andgrowth. Through their recent investment you will have the ability to take the business to the next level, working with some key brands you will cement their existing relationships but also have the ability through business development to develop new clients.* Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying and MRICS or working towards it* Cost Management experience in a project related environment* Excellent prioritisation and self-management skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment* An in-depth knowledge of different construction processes* Strong knowledge and track record in the application of IT based solutions* Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others* A willingness to learn and assume responsibility* Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute* Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal* Excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills* A team player with a can do attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable and flexible* Able to work on own initiative* Calm and poised under pressure* Ability to challenge in a constructive manner* Ability to develop creative solutions to difficult issues* Open and diplomatic approachThis is a great opportunity to join a growing business as they heavily invest in the Tees Valley where you can become a fully integrated part of an elite, collaborative team of professionals at a time of growth and expansion.
