Job Description

Security OfficerImperial Professionals are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with one of our biggest clients who are recruiting for a Security Officer on a Permanent basis.Salary: £20,100 per annumContract Type: PermanentLocation: MiddlesbroughHours: 37 hours a week (including evening and weekend work)Job PurposeThe Campus Security Officer will report directly to the Safety & Building Services Supervisors and be responsible for providing an efficient and effective estates service within the Facilities Management Department.The role will include shift work (including evening & weekends) covering 7 days a week.The shift systems of the role are currently:05.45 - 14.1508.00 - 16.3013.00 - 21.301 weekend approximately every 8 weeks.The role is a combination or security, porterage and building services duties.Responsibilities:

  • To provide an efficient and effective estates service within the Facilities Management Department. Services include but are not limited to, porterage, internal goods & post services, concierge services, fire evacuation, cleaning, goods yard operation, minormaintenance and repair, reprographics, and car parking services.
  • To play a full part in the College Safety team, to have a good understanding of Safeguarding responsibilities, gain and maintain Security Industry Association registration in door supervision & CCTV operation including the supply of recorded images (inaccordance with relevant legislation), carry out the duty of an appointed first aider.
  • To participate in flexible working arrangements, including shift systems and weekend cover, and an emergency call-out rota.
  • To assist other members of the Facilities Management Department as directed in the performance of tasks.
  • To respond to request for assistance, in an efficient and effective manner, as appropriate to skills and duties.
  • To undertake First aid training to ensure that certification remains valid.
  • To liaise with and assist contractors and other agencies as appropriate.
  • To participate in staff appraisal and training needs analysis activities, so as to advise the Group Director of Digital and Campus Services as to the training and development needs of staff, and to participate in relevant activities.
  • To contribute as appropriate to minor works and other projects, so as to improve the overall College environment
  • To provide a courteous helpful and friendly response to all enquiries.
  • To assist with the monitoring of the Department’s performance against quality standards, and to identify service improvements.
  • To show an active commitment to the College and Department’s Health and Safety and operational procedures, including completion of all relevant documentation.
  • To show an active commitment to the College’s Equality and Diversity Policy, Quality Frameworks and Health and Safety procedures.
  • To show an active commitment to Departmental Strategic Objectives.
  • To actively participate in Continuous Professional Development including the introduction of new technologies to allow you to contribute effectively to the success of the College.
  • To carry out such other appropriate duties commensurate with your skills, knowledge and experience.
  • The College may, in consultation with you, need to vary these duties from time to time in order to respond to the changing requirements of the College.
Essentials:
  • To hold a valid SIA badge (Frontline Door Supervisor / CCTV Operator)
  • To hold or be willing to work towards appointed person First Aid status.
  • To hold or be willing to work towards IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent)
Experience:
  • Experience in working within a role with some / all the following areas:
- Porterage- Internal goods & post services- Concierge services- Fire evacuation- Cleaning- Goods yard operation- Minor maintenance and repair- Reprographics- Car parking services
  • Experience of working in a role with security elements including de-escalation, patrolling, ID checks, meet and greet.
  • Basic understanding of CCTV and Security systems.
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, listening and recall)
  • Excellent Interpersonal and team working skills and ability to deal with challenging situations in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Good observational skills.
  • Be able to think quickly and deal with/diffuse confrontational situations
