Job Description

If you are a committed Psychologist looking for a part-time rewarding job, where you can make a difference as you develop your expertise, then join The Bridge in Middlesbrough and enjoy support from a regional network of psychologists.Working between 16-24 hours a week, you will join The Bridge (a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation and complex care service) as part of a multidisciplinary team providing care and support for people with neurological illnesses, acquired brainand spinal cord injuries.Reporting to the Head of Psychology, you will be responsible for developing and managing group work programmes and innovative therapeutic approaches. This will see you provide individual and group interventions, diagnostic and neuropsychological assessments,MDT working, risk assessment and facilitating staff reflective practice sessions.As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service users caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.You will provide psychological assessments to service users based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources. This includes psychological (and neuropsychological) tests, self-report measures, ratingscales direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews.There is a strong emphasis on teamwork with regular supervision and CPD opportunities available to support you in reaching your career aspirations.Your responsibilities:

  • Participate fully with the multidisciplinary team and ensure that the service users are fully engaged in their care pathway
  • Support clinical team working, including both direct interventions and the delivery of staff training programmes
  • Support the clinical team and area of service in developing new initiatives and ways of working
  • To work with internal and external agencies in order to enhance treatment pathways for service users
  • Maintain high quality in all areas of practice including effective team working; using a range of evidence-based psychological approaches; ensuring adherence to national guidelines, legislation, organisational protocols, procedures, policies, standardsand systems
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • Successful completion of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology enabling registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist
  • Registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and Charterable status with the British Psychological Society
  • Experience (either pre-training, on training, or subsequently) of working with clients with neurological conditions with challenging behaviour or forensic risk relevant to the population in the service area
  • Competency in psychological assessment (including neuropsychological assessment), formulation skills and risk assessment/management tools and formulation
  • Experience using relevant clinical skills to address a range of clinical and/or forensic issues
  • Knowledge and experience of a neurobehavioural approach/person-centred dementia care and clinical neuropsychology would be desirable
