Job Description

Resource Direct Recruitment is currently recruiting a Microbiology Lab Technician for a 3 month contract to be based in Teesside. The role would be suitable to a graduate from a biological related degree with some work experience within a laboratory environment. On offer is an immediate opportunity so ideally we are looking for a candidate who can start next week.Key duties will include:

  • Assist in day-to-day running of the FDC: Washing up, autoclaving and disposing of waste, stock checking and ordering.
  • Assist in the running of experiments: making and autoclaving media, pouring media, inoculating petri dishes and shale flasks, basic strain analysis, microscopy, strain culturing, DNA extractions, gel electrophoresis and other analyses as required.

    • Qualifications / Experience
  • Qualified to degree level in biological-related science
  • Experience in basic laboratory techniques e.g. pipetting, making media and stock solutions.
  • Knowledge of a variety of analytical techniques suitable for fermentation at a range of scales from ml to tons.
