Job Description

An award-winning studio based in Middlesbrough, who work on both co-development and their own IPs, are looking to take on a Lead Artist with the motivation of greatly expanding the art team.The Company The client in question have a team comprised of both industry veterans and creative gaming professionals, all supported by talented graduates. Not only do they develop their own innovative games, but they assist other studios by helping on smaller parts of large projects.Lead Artist Role This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who is looking for expansive creative freedom and the opportunity to build a team in-line with their vision. Alongside a leading a team of artists, you will work on a wide variety of projects, creating environments, characters and creatures in different styles.Lead Artist Role Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in the gaming industry
  • At least one previous role in a lead or senior position
  • A strong portfolio to demonstrate previous work in the gaming industry
  • Excellent skillset across 3D art tools, including Maya/3DS Max, ZBrush/Mudbox
  • Confident creating a number of assets, including characters, environment and creatures
  • The client have noted that whilst experience with game engines (Unity or Unreal) will be a massive benefit for this role, it is not completely essential. Similarly, experience with hard surface modelling will make you stand out.In return, you will receive a salary between £45,000 - £55,000, the opportunity to control the creative vision across a number of project and the chance to grow your own team.The interview process will consist in an initial phone call, an informal art test and an interview with the current department head.
