Job Description

Job Title: Instructor Demonstrator Assessor - BrickworkContract: Teaching Support, Full Time, PermanentSalary: Up to £26,631 per annumHours: 37 hours per weekAnnual Leave: 30 per annum plus statutory Bank HolidaysPension: Teesside Pension Scheme(LGPS)Job PurposeRequired to deliver/cover lessons in both practical and theory who would have knowledge and experience of the trades of Brickwork, preferably at all levels 1-3.To instruct, train, demonstrate and assess students on competencebased/skills-based learning programmes devised.Post Holders Responsibilities

  • To support lecturing staff on competence based skills to standards set by external bodies, currently industry-led bodies and awarding bodies
  • To train, demonstrate, assess and support students on competence based/skills-based learning programmes devised.
  • To assist individual student/trainees in the development of their individual learning plan in order to achieve their objectives and to meet external set standards.
  • To maintain safe working practices.
  • The upkeep of learning resources/equipment used within the learning programme; reporting faults and repair to the appropriate technician/manager.
  • To support the student application and enrolment process in liaison with teaching staff and administrative staff.
  • To assist in the guidance of students within the learning programmes, including carrying out 1/1 tutorials.
  • To contribute to promotional materials and activities within the learning programmes and publicity and public relations events, e.g. open days.
  • To assist with College administration, including contribution to statistical returns such as retention rates, assessment results and student destinations.
  • To participate in appropriate team meetings and liaise with all staff, students and external agencies as necessary to fulfil the duties of the post.
  • To show an active commitment to the Colleges Equality and Diversity Policy, Quality Frameworks and Health & Safety Procedures.
  • To actively participate in Continuous Professional development including the introduction of new technologies to allow you to contribute effectively to the success of the College.
  • To carry out such other appropriate duties commensurate with your skills, knowledge and experience.
  • The College may, in consultation with you, need to vary these duties from time to time in order to respond to the changing requirements of the College.

Flexibility
  • The postholder may be required to undertake such other duties as may be reasonable required and in addition to the main tasks identified above.
  • Within the limitation set out in the contract of employment, working hours are flexible and can be subject to variation depending upon curriculum needs. This may, for example, include weekends and evening and it is expected that holiday entitlement is takenat time convenient to the curriculum offer.

Person SpecificationQualifications
  • To hold a relevant qualification at a minimum Level 3.
  • To be a qualified teacher or must be prepared to commence an appropriate teaching qualification on appointment to the post.
  • Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) or willing to undertake.
  • A commitment to undertake any mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Assessor and Verifier Awards - Desirable.
  • Teaching or Training Experience - Desirable.
  • First Aid qualification - Desirable.
Experience
  • Current and relevant industrial experience or time served apprentice in a Construction sector.
  • Teaching andor Training Experience - Desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Up to date subject knowledge.
  • IT Skills appropriate to the needs of the post.
  • Good communication skills with a range of trainees.
  • Team Player.
  • Flexibility.
