Job Description

Lotus Sanctuary CIC is a community interest company with pure and straightforwardhousing intention and empowering vulnerable people. We equip our residents with the skills that are vital to lead successful independent lives.Each resident is assigned a dedicated Housing & Empowerment Coach, who is tasked with tailoring an empowerment plan, assisting them on their journey with us at Lotus Sanctuary and beyond.Our support thesis is based on a holistic, person-centred approach, offering the residents emotional and practical support to aid the healing process and solve on-going issues. We walk hand in hand with our residents in developing the skills and confidenceneeded to lead purposeful, contributing and joyous lives.We do things by heart; we care for each other, our clients, teams and communities. We are authentic in our interactions and communicate openly, honestly and respectfully. Understanding that empathy makes us stronger.Our Vision for all vulnerable people is that:

  • They are able to access the support and development opportunities they need to secure their futures and realise their potential.

  • Extending our service offer to vulnerable people.
The purpose of the role is to ensurethat a range of housing management and empowerment services are provided to vulnerable people. This will include paying rent, reporting repairs supporting, claiming benefits, maximising income, ensuring Welfare Reformcompliance, budgeting, grants and debt management, ensuring that Health and Safety are not compromised in any way. Overall, to assist vulnerable people in achieving their aspirations and a successful transition to independence.Main duties
  • To enable vulnerable people to sustain their tenancy and equip them in relation to taking responsibility for their property.
  • To empower and show how to report repairs, keep the property in an acceptable clean manner.
  • To help maximise and retain vulnerable womans income.
  • To ensure voids meet lettable standards before letting, including cleaning and ensuring any necessary repairs are carried out.
  • To enable residents to pay their rent and service charge.
  • To assist vulnerable people in debt management or, where necessary, signpost them to specialist agencies to address these issues.
  • To take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable people.
  • To collect and record rent and other payments in line with financial procedures.
  • To inform your coordinator of any support needs or concerns, you may have identified for vulnerable people.
  • To assist vulnerable people with benefit claims, including assisting with completion and submission of claim forms and making telephone calls.
  • To be responsible for arranging and conducting vulnerable people admissions visits to the service and the induction of new residents.
  • To support and assist vulnerable women in maintaining their accommodation to

  • To work closely with coordinators to deal with any breach of tenure in line with procedure/policy.
  • To be flexible by being available out of hours on a rota basis to offer information, advice and guidance to colleagues, and where necessary, provide emergency cover within projects.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with vulnerable people in the following settings/Types of work
  • Residential or Social Work, Probation, Community Work, Education and Training, Housing.
  • Up to date knowledge of welfare rights and relevant legislation, resources etc.
  • Up to date knowledge of housing legislation
  • Able to understand the difference between friendship and support.
Desired
  • Relevant NVQ 3 in Care, Advice & Guidance or any other equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant NVQ 3 in Housing any other equivalent qualification (Housing Management qualification)
