Job Description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with an agricultural firm that is currently seeking a General Farm Worker.This is a family-owned dairy/arable farm of 1150 acres near Great Ayton. There are 250 milking cows, all-round calving and 200 ewes. N.B. To enable changes to take place in the development of the herd and milking production on the farm the majority of the milkersare to be sold at a special dispersal sale at the end of November; a small portion of the milking cows will remain on farm as well as young stock so that options for future focus can remain open.Main purpose:To assist the owner/manager and other staff with all duties.Main tasks:

  • Cleaning, feeding and bedding livestock
  • Cleaning and swilling out milking parlour and other areas
  • Supporting arable work including silageing and harvesting
  • Comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Other farm work as required
The person:
  • Would suit experienced farm worker or stockperson or someone with an interest in farming, livestock and outdoor work
  • Willingness to work with livestock is essential and livestock experience would be preferable
  • Common sense and keen to learn
  • Need to be fit and able to lift
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Driving experience including of farm vehicles and machinery useful but tuition could be provided.
Competitive wage for relevant age plus overtime as willing to work Hours: 45 hour a week including breaks but working every other weekend preferred (for which overtime will be paid) Training: Will be provided Holidays: 20 days per year plus public holidays
