Experienced Buyer-Commercial, RefurbishmentJob SummaryMy Clienthas an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis at their office in Middlesbrough.Responsible for the buying/purchasing on a number of smaller projects with a value of £1.0m to £5.0m. As well as new build projects up to a value of £20mThey are involved mainly with the refurbishment of commercial properties and to develop them into state of the art apartments, offices or student accommodation.They also has a number of new-build’ schemes in the pipeline.Task& Responsibilities· Efficient preparation and submission of tenders/documentation to suppliers.· Analysing drawings, bills of materials / quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs.· Raising POs for raw materials and component parts· Identification and assessment of new vendors· Expediting supplier deliveries and negotiating with suppliers to achieve improvement on lead times· Working proactively to resolve any supply issues with the overall objective of improving OTIF· Negotiating pricing and other terms with suppliers to improve cost base and deliver savings· Maintaining accurate purchasing data within the system ensuring full traceability.· Completing supplier reviews - monitoring and reporting on supplier delivery & quality performance.· Develop an understanding of the operations and technical information across the Company in conjunction withthe various departments.· Any other duties, as reasonably required by management.-Pull together Bill of payments / QuantsOur ideal candidate will have:· Ability to summarise and effectively communicate complex information.· High degree of competence in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point).· Excellent numerical skills and problem-solving abilities.· Good time management with the ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines.· Aptitude for creative and innovative thinking.· Strong negotiating skills.· High degree of integrity as data confidentiality is paramount to this position.· Ability to work on own initiative.Our ideal candidate will be:· Experienced in a Purchasing or Buyer role within the construction sector.· Experienced working in a time-critical environment· Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills· Proficient in the use of Excel together with accounts packages e.g. SageOur ideal candidate will have:. Formal training in a buying (or estimating) role in the building sector. Good attitude and proactive· Conscientious and responsible· Comfortable working in a team-based environment.
