Job Description

If you are an experienced chef who is passionate about cooking and are looking for a new opportunity with family-friendly hours, then join the supportive team as a Chef at The Bridge in Middlesbrough. Its a pleasurable working environment, where youll be able to manage your workload and enjoy creating meals. Theres a great social aspect to this role, where you can interact with people outside the kitchen regularly. Working 37.5 hours a week (8am-6pm Monday-Sunday), you willhelp prepare and cook patient and staff meals, ensuring meals are nutritious, appetising, and take into account any special requests or dietary requirements. You must be able to work as part of a rolling rota and be available to work bank holidays when required.Your responsibilities:

  • Participating in food purchasing through established procedures with an emphasis on cost and quality control
  • Participating in food costs through effective cost control procedures
  • Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures
  • Preparing and cooking meals to a consistently high standard
  • Preparing and producing foods for conferences and banquets
To be successful in this role, youll need:
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (Intermediate desirable)
  • Supervising qualification or working towards
  • Experience preparing and producing quality food to a high standard
  • Knowledge of menu planning and costing
  • Some supervising experience
